AUSTIN (KXAN) — Nicole Riccardo and Damian Schillaci felt that Austin, known for “keeping things weird,” was lacking in the department of events for the weird. Which is why they created one.
Riccardo and Schillaci are throwing Austin’s first-ever Strange and Extraordinary Fest this weekend at KMFA Studios.
“We wanted to put together something that encompassed everything sort of high strangeness as a whole,” Schillaci said. “We wanted to put together a convention or a fest that would go a lot deeper and be a bit different, more interactive than what we are seeing today on the current circuit.”
“We found or what we saw to be a need in that community,” Schillaci continued. “You have these different conventions or festivals or gatherings or whatever, and you have maybe one that’s paranormal related, like for ghost people, or you’ll have one that’s UFO related, you know, for UFO alien people. You will have one that’s cryptid-related for those people.”…
