AUSTIN (KXAN) — The city of Austin is expected to hold a Naturalization Ceremony on April 14, according to a Wednesday memo from Austin Equity and Inclusion (AEI).
The ceremonies were initially paused by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in January following a “significant decline in N-400 (Application for Naturalization) submissions,” which was the result of a more extensive vetting process.

AEI said it reaffirmed the city’s willingness to hold the ceremonies, and USCIS later informed staff that approximately 50 residents would be naturalized during the April 14 ceremony.
It is unclear if the city, which typically holds four to six naturalization ceremonies a year, will be allowed to host any further ceremonies this year…
