An Austin man is facing what amounts to most of the rest of his life behind bars after a Travis County jury found him guilty of sexually assaulting a child, and a judge handed down a set of lengthy prison terms. The defendant, 48-year-old Francisco Villafranca-Funes, was sentenced Tuesday following his March conviction in Travis County District Court. Prosecutors said the punishment, which they describe as adding up to nearly 70 years, reflects both the severity of the crimes and the county’s resolve to hold child abusers accountable.
