AUSTIN (KXAN) — After Austin City Council members approved a flood insurance pilot a couple years ago — which aimed to help people afford flood insurance in high-risk areas — that pilot has recently ended and is being evaluated, city staff said.
The resolution to start that pilot was brought forward by Austin City Council Member Vanessa Fuentes. Her district in southeast Austin has seen two catastrophic flood events over the past few decades.
