SXSW 2026: Port Huron Band plays at Austin

While South by Southwest is known for presenting upcoming movie screenings to the world, the movie festival’s music scene is also an iconic staple. Big names like Lola Young, Noah Kahan and Fuerza Regida made appearances, but so did smaller scale artists looking to find a larger platform.

Local Port Huron band, The Gasoline Gypsies, broke into the Austin music scene this year, making their first appearance at SXSW. The Michigan Daily sat down with three band members — guitarist and lead vocalist Caleb Malooley, guitarist and backup vocalist Neal Love and bassist Steve Briere. The band spoke with us about their history, creative process and, of course, what’s next for the band…
