AUSTIN (KXAN) — Three technology services employees at the city of Austin, including the chief information security officer, have been fired “as the result of an ongoing review,” acity of Austin spokesperson confirmed.
City sources told NewsNation affiliate KXAN the firings came after city of Austin officials were tipped off by the city of Dallas to some employees allegedly double-dipping.

According to the city of Dallas’ Office of Inspector General, it received a tip to its confidential “Whistle Hotline” in November that two IT employees “were allegedly working for both the city of Dallas and the city of Austin at the same time.” The city of Dallas did not name those employees.
