More patrols, undercover operations in north Austin neighborhood

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department has launched a new public safety strategy in the Rundberg area that involves increased nighttime patrols and undercover operations.

This comes following a deadly shooting outside of Club Rodeo in January, where police say a man shot and killed Caldwell County Deputy Constable Aaron Armstrong, who was working security, after Armstrong removed the man from the club for getting into a fight.

During a press conference in the days following the shooting, Police Chief Lisa Davis hinted at a new push to curb crime in the area.

This month, Commander Zachary Reed shared what that looks like.
