Severe storms threaten Texas Hill Country with ‘tennis ball’-sized hail

The National Weather Service on Tuesday, May 19, issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the southern Edwards Plateau and parts of the Texas Hill Country, northwest of San Antonio.

Forecasters say a cold front moving through the area could threaten several major cities later today, bringing the potential for scattered tennis ball-sized hail, wind gusts up to 70 mph and frequent lightning strikes. Affected areas include Kerrville, Kingsland, Junction, Sonora, Del Rio, San Angelo and Fort Stockton.
