Active bomb threat, hostage at Chase Bank; BPD saying community members inside ‘are safe’

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A spokesperson for the Bakersfield Police Department is saying the suspect involved in the bomb threat to the Chase Bank in downtown Bakersfield is contained inside the bank with “a number of community members.”

Sgt. Eric Celedon with BPD said the suspect is refusing to let the community members out of a room in the bank but that “everybody is safe.”

The bomb threat is still considered active. As of 4:30 p.m. no injuries have been reported…
