BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is seeking approval from county leaders to buy an additional armored vehicle for its SWAT operations, according to the Board of Supervisors meeting agenda for Tuesday.
The new Rook is set to cost $621,763, according to the agenda. KCSO would buy it from Ring Power Corporation, a heavy equipment dealer based in Florida.

The Rook reportedly includes features like remote operation and wireless connectivity to the command post.
Sheriff’s officials said these make the Rook “highly effective” during incidents involving terrorism, armed or barricaded suspects and hostage situations…
