BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a missing man from Shafter who was found near a jail building in Santa Barbara in August.
Around 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, custody staff with the Santa Barbara Main Jail Administration contacted the sheriff’s office after finding a person beneath brush on a hill by the jail.
Sheriff deputies, American Medical Response and personnel with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed that the individual was deceased. A sheriff’s office coroner’s detective was brought in to investigate the death.
