BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — In just a few years, students won’t have to trek down Interstate 58 to access Bakersfield-grade college degrees or work opportunities — they can get it right in Tehachapi.
Phase one of the new Cerro Coso Community College campus construction includes 19,320 square feet of instructional space along parking facilities, landscaping and maintenance buildings for a price tag of up to $7 million.

Kern Community College District and college leaders were on site for the groundbreaking on Tuesday, saying the project is one of the biggest and most important steps that’s been taken to expand education access in the region.
