BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The city of Delano is asking for the City Council’s approval to apply for a state grant that would help fund its domestic violence shelter operations, according to the meeting agenda for Tuesday.
The Permanent Local Housing Allocation program, administered by the state’s Department of Housing and Community Development, offers funding for housing-related activities to eligible governments in California.

Delano is planning to apply for $472,667 in PLHA funding. If awarded, the funding would support the Delano Domestic Violence Shelter’s operations, according to the agenda.
“The shelter provides emergency housing and supportive services to individuals and families experiencing domestic violence and serves up to 24 persons for periods of up to 24 months,” the agenda said…
