Saugus made a statement in their Foothill League opener Friday night, using an explosive offensive performance and a pair of touchdown connections between freshman quarterback Zachary Barnes and Landon Lattimore to pull away from Golden Valley.
Saugus entered league play looking to build on a 3-1 start, while Golden Valley came into the matchup at 2-2. The Grizzlies kept pace at times, but Saugus’ big-play offense ultimately proved difficult to contain.
Freshman quarterback Barnes made his first Foothill League start and connected with Lattimore for two touchdown passes, while Lattimore finished with three receiving touchdowns.
