BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Collective Soul bassist Will Turpin promises that those who attend their show as part of the Kern County Fair scheduled for Sept. 24 will be part of a big celebration. He can make that vow because the rock band has been calling their shows “Celebration of Life” for more than a decade.
“We celebrate the songs. Have a good time. Ultimately, if we have fun on stage, I feel like that transcends, so we try to have fun together,” Turpin says. He pauses and then makes a slight correction with “We, we don’t have to TRY. We actually do have fun together. We still actually love each other.
“So, we have fun. On stage, we try to celebrate the song, celebrate the memories. And celebrate what music means to us as individuals and as humans in general. When we get together and celebrate these things, there’s some powerful emotions that come about.”…
