BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Hurricane Odalys which grew to a Category 4 storm surpassed computer model expectations and while it does not pose a threat of landfall or anything, the interaction between a developing trough of low pressure dropping south along the California coast (the same one that may help us go from 100 on Thursday to 80 or even lower on Monday) and tropical moisture flowing northeast from Odalys could bring about a stormy scenario to parts of California early next week.
The ensemble (blended model forecast from the EPS – the European model) has been upping that potential on its trends over the last several days, clearly showing a more interesting and impactful scenario, and has been trending further and further west, which also began bringing that possibility closer to our area.
This, should it verify, could bring flooding rains to places like Vegas and if the trend continues – back across the SoCal deserts and maybe into Kern County.
