BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Despite its parent company filing for Chapter 11 restructuring, Maya Cinemas in Bakersfield will operate normally, said officials.
The announcement was made on Monday, ensuring guests that the Maya Bakersfield 16 & MPX, at 1000 California Avenue, will remain open.
Officials said on Oct. 16, 2026, Maya Bakersfield Cinemas Operating Company, LLC and its affiliate Maya Bakersfield Cinemas, LLC filed for Chapter 11 voluntarily in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.
A statement read from a press release: “Chapter 11 allows a business to keep operating while it strengthens its finances. The filing does not close the theater, and moviegoers do not need to take any action.”…
