Woman dies after being struck by pickup: CHP

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman is dead after she was struck by a pickup on Rosedale Highway early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to CHP, the crash happened in the area of Rosedale Highway and Rudd Avenue at approximately 6:03 a.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a 30-year-old female was walking northbound outside of a crosswalk across eastbound lanes of Rosedale Highway west of Rudd Avenue, while a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound at approximately 55-57 mph.

The Silverado was traveling in the number one lane when, for unknown reasons, the woman walked across the highway from the south side of the road and directly into the truck’s path.

The Silverado struck the pedestrian at approximately 55 mph. The woman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck immediately stopped, returned to the scene and called 911. No other injuries were reported. Drugs and or alcohol do not seem to be factors in the crash, according to CHP.
