BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The preliminary hearing in the case against former Bakersfield Condors athletic trainer Chad Drown, charged in connection to a child sex sting operation, has been postponed two months.
Drown, represented by defense attorney Kyle J. Humphrey, now has a preliminary hearing set for late March, according to court records. The postponement was confirmed Tuesday.

Arrested Oct. 9, 2022, Drown is accused of attempting to meet someone he believed was a 15-year-old boy for sex, according to court documents.
Sheriff’s officials say Drown, 33 at the time, “turned the conversation sexual” after meeting someone — actually a detective — on the gay dating app Grindr. He made arrangements to meet, court filings say, and showed up at a local park.
Drown told a sergeant he never intended to have sex with a minor. He said he believed the person he was communicating with was 18, and he went to the park to discourage them from doing anything sexual with minors, according to sheriff’s reports.
