CHP issue 63 citations during Special Enforcement Operation along Hwy 99

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The California Highway Patrol issued 63 citations during a Special Enforcement Operation along Highway 99 Tuesday.

Six CHP officers patrolled and issued citations from 7th Standard Road to Taft Highway from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The office initiated the special enforcement as rain continued to pour over Kern County Tuesday.

Officials said the primary reason drivers crash is due to speeding, chances of a collision increase when driving at unsafe speeds on wet roadways.

During the operation, a total of 63 citations were issued:

  • 56 for speeding
  • 2 for drivers on their cell phone
  • 2 mechanical
  • 1 for a seatbelt violation
  • 1 for a commercial vehicle speeding
  • 1 for commercial vehicle out of lane

CHP reminds motorists to slow down, wear your seatbelt, and keep your eyes on the road.
