Investigation ongoing into Arvin sergeant, ex-BPD officer

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Prosecutors on Friday said an investigation was ongoing into an Arvin police sergeant and former Bakersfield police officer who were allegedly found in possession of drugs two months ago.

District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Daniela Gonzaga said prosecutors received an investigative report Dec. 12 on Sgt. Delia Reyes and ex-officer DeAngelo Sanchez but sent it back for further investigation. She said it will likely be several weeks before the investigation’s complete.

In November, authorities executed search warrants at homes on Alta Peake Drive, Galanos Court and Sandra Drive.

The warrants sought the arrest of Francisco Javier Beltran by federal authorities on charges of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. A separate investigation by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office resulted in Reyes’ arrest.

According to the complaint filed against Beltran, 5 pounds of meth, 1 kilogram of heroin and 1,400 counterfeit hydrocodone pills containing fentanyl were seized during the course of the investigation. Beltran has a hearing in federal court next week.
