Man dead after apparent shooting in east Bakersfield: BPD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man is dead after being found with gunshot wounds in east Bakersfield early Sunday morning, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

According to BPD, officers responded to a shooting at around 2:25 a.m. in the 10 block of Monterey Street. Upon their arrival, officers located a man with gunshot injuries in the roadway.

The man was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, per BPD.

BPD said there is no suspect information for public release at this time. Traffic is still being impacted as of Sunday morning, with eastbound Monterey Street from Union Avenue closed for vehicle and foot traffic.

The victim’s identity will be released at a later date.
