BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield food scene is set to get a double dose of barbecue later this year.
The Harris family, owners and operators of the Central Valley’s Harris Ranch and other holdings, told 17 News on Monday that it plans to open two new Harris BBQ locations in Bakersfield.
A spokesperson said they hope to open inside the Sully’s on Coffee Road between Stockdale Highway and Truxtun Avenue. The company said that location is in the “final stages” with a tentative opening date sometime in April.

Harris Ranch also said it has plans to open a standalone restaurant at the Shoppes at Oaks Business Park at the intersection of Buena Vista Road and Bolthouse Drive later this fall.
“We’re excited about introducing Harris BBQ to Bakersfield and we are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to serve and become an integral part of the community,” a Harris Ranch spokesperson said in an email.
Harris BBQ is one part of the business that makes up the Harris family’s agribusiness. It also operates Harris Ranch Resort in Coalinga and the Harris Beef Company.
