Baby died from fentanyl overdose in September: coroner

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The death of a 6-month-old girl in September was caused by “acute fentanyl toxicity,” according to coroner’s officials, and her death is a homicide.

Jaylah Serrato Cortez was found unresponsive Sept. 2 on Kentucky Street, according to coroner’s officials. She was taken to Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
