Point in Time Count volunteers distribute 600 Narcan kits, respond to overdose emergency

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Point in Time Count volunteers handed out Narcan to those they encountered during last weeks count.

Kern Behavioral Health Services said 34 volunteers participated in the annual point-in-time count which gives the county an idea of the number of individuals experiencing homelessness.

Volunteers distributed nearly 600 Narcan kits to homeless individuals, the medication tat is used to rapidly reverse an opioid overdose.

One volunteer also responded to an overdose emergency during the count.
