Bike Bakersfield launches free E-bike program for East and Southeast Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bike Bakersfield is bringing a loan-to-own electric bicycle program to East and Southeast Bakersfield residents.

According to organizers, participants will receive a free electric bicycle, accessories and safety equipment for one year. Riders will have to document a minimum of 30 miles weekly and attend workshops and group rides.

The program’s, in collaboration with the Rose Foundation, purpose is to promote active transportation and reduce air pollution, while promoting exercise and environmental sustainability within disadvantaged communities, according to the nonprofit.
