2 arrested after vehicle pursuit ends in crash on 23rd St.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One adult and a juvenile were arrested after leading sheriff’s officers in a vehicle pursuit that ended in a collision in downtown Bakersfield.

KCSO was notified of a stolen vehicle spotted on Q and 34th streets. Officers located the 2019 Dodge Challenger at the intersection of Union Avenue and Flower Street and tried to pull the car over. The driver fled and merged onto westbound Highway 178.

The Challenger was related to crimes in Los Angeles, with the two suspects related to the crimes being considered armed and dangerous. The pursuit ended after the vehicle lost control and struck another vehicle and a Kern County Public Works truck, eventually colliding with a pole on 23rd and K St., according to KCSO.

Both suspects fled on foot after the collision and were arrested a short time later. Officers also recovered a firearm from the scene. A 19-year-old and a juvenile were taken into custody for reckless evading, possession of stolen vehicle, grand theft auto and resisting arrest, according to officials.
