Preliminary hearing postponed in shooting over stolen French bulldogs

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A preliminary hearing has been postponed to April for three defendants charged in a shooting that investigators say occurred over stolen French bulldogs.

Nazianna Garcia, Joe Garcia and Abraham Hernandez-Morales are due back in court April 4, according to court records. They’re charged with attempted murder and two counts of assault with a gun.

The three were allegedly involved in the Aug. 2 shooting in a parking lot at Valley Plaza mall that seriously wounded a woman . According to police reports, the shooting happened during an exchange of two stolen French bulldogs.

The wounded woman told police a friend had asked her to take the animals to the mall where an interested buyer would pay her $5,000 for each dog. She said she didn’t know they were stolen.
