BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Unit announced that it will be conducting a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint on Saturday, Feb. 3.
Per BPD, the checkpoint will be held between the hours of 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday at an undisclosed location.
Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and or drug impairment and checking drivers for proper licensing while temporarily delaying motorists, according to BPD.

When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate drivers suspected of drug-impaired driving with not just illegal narcotics, but prescription drugs, marijuana or over-the-counter medications.
Research shows that crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced by 20% when well-publicized DUI checkpoints and proactive DUI patrols are conducted routinely, officials said.
