Some downtown Bakersfield intersections to be closed for storm drain improvement

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Several intersections in downtown Bakersfield will be closed starting Monday for a storm drain system improvement project.

The city said the Public Works Department is expected to start a project to improve the
storm drain system near 21st and P streets starting Feb. 12.

As a result, temporary road closures will be required on 21st Street between O and Q streets as well as P Street between 20th and 22nd streets. No traffic will be allowed at these intersections.

According to the city, the project is expected to be completed by Friday, Feb. 16. Detours will be in place at the nearest intersections.

Drivers are advised to avoid these areas during construction If unavoidable, the city encourages drivers to use extra caution, plan for additional travel time, or plan to use alternate routes.

Construction work may be postponed and rescheduled without notice due to inclement
weather and other unforeseen conditions, the city said.
