Driver Killed in Bakersfield Fiery Rollover Crash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Feb. 15 (KNN) — A driver was killed in a rollover crash involving fire late Wednesday night in the city of Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Police Department was dispatched at 11:36 p.m. to a traffic collision involving a single vehicle at the intersection of Paladino Drive and Neptune Drive where arriving officers located an overturned vehicle on fire.

Kern County Fire Department personnel responded to the location and extinguished the flames engulfing the vehicle. The male adult driver who was the only occupant inside the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the BPD.

“Preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was travelling west on Paladino Drive when it struck the center median and rolled over. Speed is believed to be a factor in the collision,” stated the BPD in a press release regarding the fatal incident.

It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were also contributing factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
