Pedestrian struck, killed by hit-and-run driver on Cottonwood Road

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A pedestrian is dead after being struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Cottonwood Road early Thursday, according to Bakersfield police.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Cottonwood Road and East Pacheco Road for reports of an injury crash with a man down on the roadway just after 2 a.m. BPD said the man was walking along the east shoulder of Cottonwood Road when he was hit by a vehicle traveling southbound.

Officials at the scene found the man suffering from major injuries at the intersection. He died at the scene.

After hitting the pedestrian, the vehicle fled the scene. BPD did not release a description of the vehicle involved.
