2 airlifted after head-on motorcycle crash SW of Taft: KCFD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two motorcyclists were airlifted from a deep drainage after a head-on crash in a remote-area south of Taft, according to Kern County Fire Department.

On Feb. 10, KCFD were dispatched to reports of a head-on crash involving two motorcycles in a remote area near 25 Hill Road. Fire officials arrived at the off-road location via fire engines, but had to use 4×4 patrol vehicles to meet the 911 caller who then led them to the crash site. The crash happened in a deep drainage, rescue teams hiked down to reach the patients and began to treat their injuries.

Later, KCFD launched helicopter 408 to hoist both patients out of the drainage and were transported to Taft airport, where they were moved into waiting ambulances, according to officials.

One rider suffered serious injuries and was transported via medvac helicopter, Calstar 7. The second patient was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital.
