Centennial Corridor opens, connecting Highway 58 to Westside Parkway

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The long-anticipated Centennial Corridor is now open for business.

Drivers are now able to access the corridor between Highway 58 and the Westside Parkway.

The new mile-and-a-half section of freeway has been 19 years in the making. Cars were seen traveling the newly opened road Saturday.

Bakersfield bicyclists — not drivers — take the first rides on the Centennial Corridor

While driving on the Centennial Corridor, you might notice a view of the city you haven’t seen before — a panorama from a different elevated perspective. Drive safely.

Per Vice Mayor Andrae Gonzales, connections to Highway 99 “will open soon.”
