Man accused of transporting 231 pounds of meth pleads not guilty

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man accused of transporting 231 pounds of methamphetamine found during a traffic stop in Bakersfield made his first court appearance Friday.

Adolfo Moreno-Ramirez, 48, pleaded not guilty to felony counts of transporting and possessing meth for sales. Court Commissioner Keenan Perkins ordered him held on $250,000 bail with the stipulation that any money put up for bail must be proved to have been legally obtained.

He’s due back in court July 11.

The meth was found after an SUV driven by Moreno-Ramirez was pulled over Wednesday on 24th Street, according to sheriff’s officials. Investigators allege he has been trafficking large amounts of meth from an unknown location in southern California.
