Two-alarm fire damages structure on Wilson Road: BFD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — An abandoned building caught fire Saturday and required a two-alarm response from firefighters in Kern County.

On June 29, the Italian Heritage Dante Association building caught fire in the 4400 block of Wilson Road. Fire crews rushed to the scene at about noon and went to work battling the flames. The once popular spot among Italian Americans in Bakersfield took significant damage to the roof from the fire.

Battalion Chief Chris Bowles with the Bakersfield Fire Department said this building is one of a string of vacant fires popping up frequently.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no injuries have been reported.
