BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Believe it or not, the new school year is upon us. School campuses will be filled with kids in new outfits and gear including supplies and backpacks.
Various organizations and nonprofits are holding events before that first day of school giving away backpacks and supplies.
All students in Kern’s 46 public school districts to receive free breakfast and lunch

THP Memorial Foundation Back-to-school Backpack Giveaway
THP Memorial Foundation and local businesses are hosting a back-to-school event on Sunday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cecil Avenue Middle School located at 1430 Cecil Ave.
Organizers said while supplies last, this event will give away backpacks and school supplies to students (but they must be present to get a backpack). Kids 12 and under with wristbands can also get a free haircut.
City of Delano Back-to-school Open House
The City of Delano Department of Recreation and Kern County Child Support Services is hosting an event Sunday, July 21 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 260 W. 11th Ave.
