Dozens of dogs transported from Bakersfield to out of state rescues

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Dozens of shelter dogs are on their way to a better life.

Thirty-three dogs from the Bakersfield Animal Care Center were loaded into a van Monday afternoon, and are headed to rescues in Washington.

The BACC has done these trips before, taking dogs at risk of being euthanized in overcrowded shelters and moving them to rescues. The transports of these dogs also help prospective pet owners find a new furry friend in areas where there aren’t many dogs to adopt.

The city shelter is always looking for short term fosters to hold the dogs until the day they leave for rescue.

If you’re interested, you can call the shelter at 661-832-7387 or stop by at 201 S. Mount Vernon Ave.
