Boulder slides off mountainside onto I-5 south of Bakersfield following quake

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A large boulder knocked loose after the 5.2 quake Tuesday night temporarily blocked lanes of I-5 just south of Grapevine Road.

The boulder came to rest in the #2 lane of southbound I-5 following a quake that struck in the Mettler area at around 9:10 p.m.

5.2 magnitude earthquake felt throughout Bakersfield area

The California Highway Patrol in Fort Tejon said the boulder forced the closure of the #2, #3 and #4 lanes. The boulder was reported in lanes shortly after the quake.

Caltrans crews removed the boulder off the road a little after midnight. All lanes were open for traffic CHP said.
