Scrivner asked future child support payments be set at zero: court filing

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Zack Scrivner said he has no income and asked that any future child support payments be set at zero, according to a court filing obtained Wednesday by 17 News.

“I am very sensitive to the current circumstances we are faced with, especially for our four children,” he said in a declaration dated Aug. 2 — the date his resignation as a county supervisor took effect.

“I want to be able to financially assist with their daily needs,” Scrivner said. “However, unfortunately, these current circumstances have left me with no income.”

Scrivner added he would be able to pay if he obtains unemployment or disability benefits.

The declaration was not discussed at Monday’s family law hearing and didn’t become publicly available until afterward.

At the hearing, Scrivner agreed to pay a monthly sum of $2,947 in child support retroactive to May 1. He’s barred from contacting his children, who are in the custody of his wife.

It was unclear Wednesday if future payments remain an issue. The Scrivners are due back in court Dec. 2 for a hearing on a domestic violence restraining order and to revisit the issue of child support, among other matters.
