Kern County Museum closed Wednesday due to extreme heat

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Museum is closed Wednesday due to extreme heat.

Staff at the museum alerted visitors with a sign on the gate saying the museum is closed for the day.

Officials said the museum is scheduled to be open Thursday for the Ready Set Back to School event and it will close again Friday.

Temperatures in Bakersfield are forecast to reach into the triple digits Wednesday. 17 News forecaster Candy Caceres said this recent heat wave is expected to peak Wednesday with temperatures approaching 107 degrees in Bakersfield.

Officials say the museum is scheduled to reopen Saturday and Sunday.
