Bakersfield law firm hosts blood drive in honor of former attorney battling cancer

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield law firm Chain Cohn Clark is partnering with Houchin Community Blood Bank and hosting a blood drive in honor of a former partner and attorney battling non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Organizers with the law firm say the blood drive is set for Wednesday, August. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chain Cohn Clark parking lot.

Jim Yoro retired from the law firm in 2023 after working there for over 40 years as an attorney. Shortly after his retirement, he started to experience health issues.

Officials with the law firm say he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and he has needed several blood transfusions as part of his treatment.

Yoro’s family wishes to hold a blood drive to raise awareness.

Organizers say blood donors will receive a voucher for 15% off at Butcher Block and will be entered to win a Blackstone Grill and accessory set, as well as a guitar signed by Taylor Swift.
