In a concerted effort to curb the persistent issue of vehicle theft in Kern County, detectives of the Kern County Auto Theft Task Force (KernCATT) successfully located a stolen vehicle which led to the uncovering of a chop shop in Bakersfield; two men, Israel Cruz, 39, and Edgar Gonzalez, 38, now face several charges. According to a social media post by the California Highway Patrol, the incident unfolded when the detected vehicle prompted a suspect to flee on foot, and during the pursuit, detectives stumbled upon another stolen vehicle in the process of being stripped for parts.
