Hundreds of people, many of them wearing elaborate costumes, filled the backstage area of Mechanics Bank Arena Saturday for the 10th annual Bakersfield Collector-Con. Pop-culture conventions – known as “cons” among the initiated – have grown in popularity in the past two decades and in Bakersfield Saturday, fans of all ages streamed through more than 100 vendor stands selling collectibles including comic books, costume pieces and artwork of all kinds.
