Marley’s Mutts rescue ‘Bruiser’ to perform in Legally Blonde: The Musical

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A homeless pet is hoping to steal the show and some hearts at the Stars Theatre this upcoming weekend.

The theatre presents the iconic movie turned musical “Legally Blonde.” The 2001 movie stars Elle Woods, a sorority fashionista turned lawyer and her dog Bruiser.

In this production Bruiser isn’t a chihuahua, she’s played by Jelly Roll from Marley’s Mutt’s Dog Rescue.

“We wanted to take some of the mutts that we’ve had, that have been around. Jelly Roll has been around for a very long time and she has yet to find her forever home,” said Amy Adams, Vice President of Stars Theatre. “We thought if we could give her this stage and the light on this stage, people could see her and bring her in for her forever home.”

“Legally Blonde” runs Friday, August 23rd through September 14th. You can get tickets online or at the Stars Theatre box office.
