Dr. Elias joined 17 News at Noon to share some insight into how you can identify if you fall victim to the condition.

The first signs of the infection include an extreme pain in the lower left side of the abdomen that doesn’t go away, Dr. Elias said during her interview. When this happens, it is recommended patients get a CT scan immediately.

The infection can surface for people as early as their twenty’s.
