State regulators suspend Bakersfield nightclub’s liquor license over alleged alcohol sales to a minor

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Rosedale nightclub is without its liquor license Friday after being served with a suspension notice by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the notice was served Thursday, suspending the liquor license for a year at Cache Night Club near Calloway Drive. Police said the suspension resulted from “ongoing issues at this establishment surrounding their service of alcoholic beverages that have become an increasing threat to our community’s safety.”

ABC said it has been investigating the club from 2019 to 2023 and has cited individuals for a minor for consuming alcohol, allowing a minor to remain in a public establishment, and sales of alcoholic beverages to a minor.

However, the business owners said this suspension is due to problems with the prior tenants operating the club as Brix Lounge, and they are suffering the consequences.

“It’s a new entity, a new operation, a new owner, I feel like it’s righteous for BPD or ABC to not say ‘Hey let’s give an opportunity to someone new that doesn’t have this ugly record,’ because at the end of the day that was what was piling up they were just tired of that building being operated as it was being operated,” said Co-Owner Carlos Perez.
