Man held on $275K bail on charges including human trafficking

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — An man accused of human trafficking was ordered held on $275,000 bail Friday during a hearing in which a prosecutor said he was convicted of a similar offense in 2021.

Keshaun Arturo Brown, 32, is due back in court Sept. 4 on charges of pandering, pimping and human trafficking.

Prosecutor Christine Antonios asked for no bail or, if bail was granted, that it be in an amount over $1 million. She said Brown is from out of town, a handgun was used in the case and the victim had to flee in a vehicle.

Court Commissioner Keenan Perkins said he agreed Brown posed a danger based on his criminal history, but he didn’t believe there were no financial conditions to address that risk. He set bail at the amount recommended for the charges Brown faces.

Perkins told Antonios and Deputy Public Defender Daniel Hazzard they could request a bail hearing.
