Shafter Police confirms death of Sergeant Moises Martinez

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Shafter Police Department has confirmed the death of Sergeant Moises Martinez following an incident in Oildale Wednesday morning.

A police presence was reported around 7:26 a.m. at a home located at 206 Sunny Meadow Drive, just west of N. Chester Avenue. The Kern Coroner’s office, Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Kern County Fire and Shafter Police Department vehicles were seen outside the home, according to a 17 News Photojournalist.

While the details as to how Sgt. Martinez died have not been released, Shafter Police did release a statement confirming his death.

During his tenure Martinez was known for his unwavering commitment to public safety, compassionate service, and mentorship of younger officers, according to SPD.
