Born 10-23-59 in Ventura California, Cynthia Rae (Hale) Sohm was the 4th of 5 Children of Ray and Ruth Hale. Cindy spent most of her childhood and early adult life in Bakersfield CA, having attended Williams Elementary, Compton Jr High and finishing her school days at East Bakersfield High School. Wirey, physically strong and without fear to a fault, Cindy would often be found swinging from chandeliers or climbing to the tops of the highest trees in the neighborhood as a youngster! Although not one to take a real interest in school studies, she was quite bright and clever, as all who knew her would attest. She had a personality, energy and passion for life and adventure that few could match. She started her family early, marrying and having the first of 4 children (Jonathan) when she was 16 years old. Unfortunately, life came with more than her fair share of misfortune, enduring the loss of 3 of her children and suffering from many serious health issues by mid life that restricted her first to assisted living and then skilled nursing. Throughout these hardships, Cindy maintained a love of life and family and faith in God. She spoke about how she knew she would see those she lost, and reassured those she would leave behind that they would see her again too. Cindy moved to Portland Oregon in 2017 to be closer to her son Ryan so he could tend to and oversee her care and wellbeing. She last resided at Avamere Crestview of Portland. Cindy’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her cousin Nina Caldwell for her love and compassion faithfully checking in on her, taking her shopping, and visiting her often during her many hospital stays. Cindy passed from this life on 8-11-24 surrounded by her loving family, Ryan, Nina and sister Teresa Cumberland at OHSU in Portland Oregon. Cindy will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Macdoel CA on 8-30-24 at 12pm. Cindy was preceded in death by sons Jonathan Conner, Cory Harding, daughter McKenzie Watts, parents Ray and Ruth Hale, brother Mickey Hale and sister Patty Rolow. She is survived by her son Ryan Conner, sister Teresa Cumberland (Marc), brother Jerry Hale and nephews and nieces.
